The famous poem "by the elves" by Heinrich von Morungen from 13th century, and another short love poem by him.
Unfortunately both the scanner and the cam have problems with the colours. I coud fit the colours of the paper and the writing quite well but the drawing is too much for me, so there the colours are not right.

Thank you very much! :) I really did about 20 photos and scans but nothing got the colours right. But I agree, they are quite nice that way.

I can try to translate it, but it is quite bumpy but I hope you can understand it quite (sorry for my bad English. Too it is not easy to translate a Middle High German text to English without even having a Modern German form :) ):

By the elves was enchanted many a man
so I am enchanted by a great love
by the best one whom a man ever can get
but if she would like to flee me because of this,
not abide with me, if she will take revenge,
make what bid her she will delight me so much
that my body must melt away by blissfulness.

She commands and is the woman of my heart
and is more kingly than myself
hey when should I be that lordly for her
that she will keep loyalty to me
whole three days and many a night
then I'll never lose my body and all the power
but sadly she is all too free of me.

The very bright shine of her eyes emblazes me
same as the fire does the tinder
and her aliening aggrieves my heart
same as the water does the very hot blaze
and her pride, her beauty, her glory
and the warvel that is told about her virtue
does me ill and lightly well too

When ever her very bright eyes
look all through my heart
who ever then stands between us and deflect me
whom must almost melt away his blissfulness
when I then stand and wait for my woman
right as do the small birds for the day
when will ever happen love to me?
