Yellow Renaissance dress by Celefindel Yellow Renaissance dress by Celefindel
My new beloved Renaissance gown! I found some drawings and a dress like this dated around 1580.
The dress is made of a lot of golden-yellow damask, the bodice stiffened with linen and the skirt pleated. I need the right farthingale below, my selfmade one has some strange errors I can't fix.
Because of the noble look I chose against all decorations now and leave it plain.
The chemise is an old one with a handstiched blackwork collar.

It's lovely. I love the chemise - I still haven't got the hang of blackwork, and am very envious indeed! The colour of the dress is wonderful, too, suits you perfectly.

I would like to, really. What type of thread did you use? I tried with black silk, but am pondering if maybe linen on linen is better.

I used some sewing thread, either cotton or synthetic fibre but for the breadth double. Linen might be too rigid, I believe? If you have any suggestions I'd like to hear them :)

hi, it is amazing!
She looks great in the gold dress, like she is from medieval times.
